NLPS Grades 8 and 9 Reading Assessments

The NLPS Grades 8 and 9 reading assessments are formative assessments that are meant to inform instruction at the beginning of the year and to identify learners that may require further instructional action around literacy skills and reading comprehension.

The assessment is intended to be offered at the beginning of the school year to help school teams implement early practices that will support learners in all their classes.  The assessment is not intended to be attached to any one class, as literacy skills are cross-curricular.

In the spring, the assessment should be administered again, both to track the progress of implemented interventions, as well as to identify further attention necessary for individual learners.
